Broadcom wireless in kernel 2.6.17 - configuration help needed

Hi and thanks in advance.

I am running Suse 10.1 on an HP Pavillion dv6000 series laptop. Originaly sound support was poor at best and of course no modem or wireless support. In order to solve these problems I compiled my first kernel (sucessfully, no less ) Sound is better and the modem is not a priority at the moment. The wireless is another subject. I included the broadcom drivers when configuring - and one assumes when compiling - the new kernel - 2.6.17.13-smp.

Can someone point me to a how to or other tutorial to aid me in getting this thing configured? Do I have to modprobe in order to load the module? Is Yast involved in this thing anywhere? You get the idea.

Thanks, again, in advance.

Virgil

Assuming SuSE 10.X has the hwinfo utility, run '/usr/sbin/hwinfo --netcard'. It will tell you which driver is needed, and whether or not the driver is loaded. If not, modprobe the driver.

Then Yast -> Network devices to configure.
