Booting to Logon

New to Linux - hopefully I am posting this in the correct place.

I am running Novell Suse Desktop v9. Currently I login as root and start Firefox. From Firefox I navigate to my local intranet, navigate to my local Citrix Nfuse page and logon. From this page all applications that are deployed to me are available simlpy by clicking the icon associated with the application I wish to launch.

My question:
Is it possible to configure Linux so it boots right to the Nfuse logon screen? Basically I do not want the user to have to worry whether their on a Linux desktop or Windows desktop.

Any insight is appreciated.
Thanks,
Kerry

You could create a script to do that. And then maybe run it in .xinitrc or /etc/profile. It should be as easy as firefox localaddress.

Try it.

Still new to Linux, not quite at the stage of scripting.

I have been digging around, I think what I may be looking for is something along the lines of configuring a shell?

Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Kerry

It could be as easy as adding the line
exec firefox /url_address
to the xinitrc file just after the window manager execution command.

Try it. Rename the current file with _old attached to the end, make the edit changes, and see if that works. if it doesn't, you can always re-name the _old file to the real name again, and re-enter the user account. You might have to rename it as root, if the system doesn't let you into the desktop again...
