Black Screen after Powersave

I reinstalled SuSe to get apache2 running, and it all works fine now. Apahce, php, mySQL, all nice and clean.

I have an odd problem, though. It's a server so I just leave it one, and sometimes when I wiggle the mouse to get the screen to come back up, it's just black.

Just now, I could see an outline of the menu bar along the bottom, but nothing else. No more mouse jiggling works. Perhaps it is that the monitor shuts off by itself on a powersave?

I cannot get to a text mode, either. I can still hit the server externally just fine, so it appears as though it's working, but I cannot interact with the monitor unless I do a reboot.

Can I turn the monitor powersave off? If so, how?
Thanks.

Thanks.

If you still can see parts of the menu bar, the monitor is not in standby mode.

I would assume something like a X server crash. But in that case you should still be able to switch to a console with Ctrl+Alt+F1-6. It's also not the standby (suspend to disk) mode, cause the server wouldn't be accessible anymore. Very strange!

Can you kill the X-server with Ctrl+Alt+Backspace ?
Or login via ssh?
