Best Practices for KDE 3.5 Upgrade?

Hi,

I happly running 9.3 and I want to upgrade KDE to 3.5. I don't see a YAST option in "Online Update" for KDE base.

I see tones KDE 3.5 RPM's offered at kde.org. in the SuSE 9.3 FTP links. How can I cut to the chase and just upgrade the BASE KDE Pkg's and any requirements with the least amount of trouble?

Thanks,
Paul

Wait till Suse decides KDE 3.5 is stable

Seriously though, just follow the instructions at kde.org, and make sure you follow the proper package order, as kde is picky about this. Be prepared for lots of downloading, and tracking down all the packages kde/rpm tells you it needs.

It won't ever make it to Yast Online Update.

Add the supplementary branch to your online sources

{edit: I did not want the URL parsed, forgot to encapsulate it in code tags}
Code:
installation_sources -a ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_10.0/yast-source
Obviously if you're in 9.2, 9.3, etc. you will want to adjust the pathing accordingly.

Additionally,

I just found this Novel link:
http://www.novell.com/linux/download/linuks/index.html

Would this suggest they think 3.5 is good to go ? Anyone out there running KDE 3.5 on SuSE 9.3 Pro ?

Thanks Again,
Pablo
