My gstreamer .so files are located in /opt/gnome/lib/gstreamer-0.10/
First check where your gstreamer is located. Just do cd /opt/gnome/lib/gstrea [TAB] to see if it's there.
(A handy app for finding files is slocate. Its called findutils-locate on suse. Just install then as root in terminal do updatedb. To create a database. Then: locate gstreamer or anything else you are looking for.)
If it is return to the direrctory where the gst-fluendo.tar.gz package is. Untar and change to the newly created directory.
Then when you normally compile you only do ./configure but if you do this the files will end up in /usr/local/lib/gstreamer... and banshee won't find them there. So do:
./configure --prefix=/opt/gnome/
make
make uninstall (if you have installed previously)
make install
Now the files will be installed in /opt/gnome/lib/gstreamer... and banshee should find them.
this is my first computer and i have no idea what you all are talking about. i have the same problem with banshee not wanting to play mp3 but i cant understand your directions. i need something really simple. please help
