ati drivers and suse 9.1 64 bit working?

Hi guys. Has anyone successfully compiled the ati drivers to work on suse 9.1 64 bit? More specifically, has anyone got it to work with the emachines m6809 laptop which has an ati radeon 9600 (mobility card i think)? If so, a basic how-to would be awesome!
