Anyone have success loading driver for ATI Radeon x600 video card?
I have been trying for days to get this working. I downloaded the driver from the ATI site, but am having problems installing it. Anyone have success with this? If so can you provide some detailed, step-by-step instructions for installing the driver? Any help would be appreciated
I have SuSE 10.0 installed and I have no problems installing ATI driver. I just follow the instructions written there and everything works fine. After installing you should reboot.
My suse 10 b0x at the office has the X600 and installed correctly by default. I did not ever add the ATI driver and do not have any problems to speak of. Just make sure you downloaded the correct X version.
Thanks, slacker. What is the proper "X" version to load? I don't know what that is (sorry, very new to this linux business) is it the GUI interface? I loaded the KDE, fwiw
I was installing the ati-driver (latest 8.23.7) via the ATI-installer from their webpage. It worked all fine and smooth. you need only all the recommended packages to be installed before, like kernel-sources, gcc and so on. For me it works fine, there is only one problem: after the installation the font on the kde login screen and the fonts in the control panels and the kde menu was changed to very very tiny. it is almost not possible to read them. but ok, a lot of fps/s*g.

Run the check.sh script provided on the ATI web site. It will tell you the version.
i just followed the instructions on their site....it made my xorg.conf automatically(i was shocked)....and i was able to get my dual-monitor setup working.....
i also used the command 'aticonfig > /root/ati.txt'
