Unhappy After Kernel update on YOU PC won't shutdown: Open SUSE

Hello,

I hope someone out there can help me. After updating the Kernel on YOU to version 2.6.13-15.7 the computer will not power off on itself.

It will go through the shut down as usual, except that it would say "sending all processes the KILL signal... missing".

Under services acpid seems to be enabled for runlevels 2,3, and 5.

Hope there's something we could do. Thanks in advance for the help,

Luis

Thanks to #openSUSE on IRC I found the answer to the problem. It seems as though the new Kernel doesn't deal with old versions of BIOS. My bios dates back to 97, so it was out of the list. I was able to make it work, however, by adding acpi=force for now to GRUB. Will deal with updating the BIOS later!
