Adding a new user question.

Hello,

I'm using suse 9.2 when I add a new user via Yast the new user shows up in the login in menu.

However when I add a new user with the useradd command it didn't show up when I brought up Yast again.

I guess that because it didn't show up in the Yast users display then it wouldn't show up in the login screen.

Any help with this will be appreciated to clear the air.

Thanks.

Usually (not talking about SuSE, just generally) after adding a user you may need to run your login manager's (say GDM or KDM) setup tool and check the newly created user in the list of users to be shown in the list. I recall at least GDM had a list of users and you could mark those you want on the list. SuSE can do things some other way, but that should help. For GDM the tool is called gdmsetup or something, or maybe with a line like gdm-setup (or config or something). But no matter which *DM it was, you should find it's setup tool somewhere in the menus.

Thanks for your reply but I think I need a responce from some one who uses Suse because of the variations in the different distrubitions.
