Acidrip compile fails (or more silly acidrip questions)

My intro Mantra: I am a complete SuSE Noob-so It's more than likely as such that I just don't know where where to look to do my homework for solving issues.

Few got that over with.

I basicly re-installed SuSE-10-OSS because for reasons that I can only guess at more often to then not the "extra" repos (Packman and Guru) would die with various and beyond iritating problems.

Onto the real issue:
Failing to find a compatible package for SuSE.

I dug in and went the source route I installed the stuff that I thought I was suposed to install so it could compile. (just following along 4 year old guide from the acidrip homepage).

First I ran make config (as recomended by the guide)
it seemed ok (ie no errors and it didn't barf on me)

Then it wanted me to run perl to and I get
long list of errors
ERROR!!
"GTK2 ERROR GTk2 NOT FOUND!!"

I double checked and perl, gtk-perl, gtk2, gtk as well as qt are indeed installed (or so says yast)

Is this a normal error? what steps should I take to solve it?
is it something that's probably a 'real headache' ? Might it help to re-install these things incase something went wrong?

You possibly need to install the GTK-devel packages

Acidrip compiled

I don't fully understand why but a visit to freshrpms and having it's meta-rpm die got AcidRip to compile (along with your sugestion of the gtk-devel package) now all I need to do is get lsdvd to install. I am considering moving to SmartPM because YaST, OpenSUSE and or pacman have problems, and I don't know where or why. It (YaST) tells me more often to then not: xyx.fu.bar.rpm can not be found on medium: Packman--I have 5 packman mirrors listed. Is this common?

Edit-Interesting SmartPM using the same "channel" didn't seem to have that particular problem
