I have to say, the default Gnome that comes with 9.1 Pro is just awful. Not everything works, and it's just terrible; so AFAIAC SuSE is really a KDE distro as opposed to both KDE and Gnome.
I'd stay that this is a totally subjective call, because different people will have different opinions as to what looks "best". I think the only thing to do is to try it out yourself. If you like it better, great, if not, you can stick with KDE -- J.W.
They both worked just fine on my box and I never had any breakage issues with Gnome on the default SuSE 9.1 version. I would just say that on the 9.2 release the Gnome session looks somewhat "Novellized" and has a more polished appearance.
