Zen Updater Error after KDE loads on SUSE 10.1

A min or so after I log in and KDE loads up, I get this error from my zen updater:

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
in <0x003d6> Novell.Zenworks.Gui.ZenTrayIcon:CheckUpdatesLoop ()
in (wrapper delegate-invoke) System.MulticastDelegate:invoke_void ()

And then Zen Updater shuts down and the service stops
---------
SuSE 10.1 i386 Version
AMD 3200+ @ 2.2 Ghz
100 Gig Maxtor HD
1 Gig Cosair RAM

I'm really puzzled on this one. I've tried reinstalling Zen Updater but I've decided to get some experienced help before I do anything else.

The updating of SuSE 10.1 via Yast online update or ZEN updater is known to be broken in the earlier released version. The advice is always to update the broken packages, but how we can update with a broken updating tool? You can download and manually install the most recent versions, but I suggest to upgrade to SuSE 10.2 which seems to have definitively solved the problem. BTW to update Suse 10.1 I uninstalled ZEN updater and I used Smart package manager (http://labix.org/smart).

I've been thinking about it and I will uninstall Zen I suppose. I don't think I'm going to upgrade yet because I've heard that many of the old packages won't work on 10.2. I already use smart and apt-get for suse 10.1 but I liked zen because of the tray module. Oh well, I guess we all must make sacrifices. Thanks for the advice.

BTW: Last time I used smart, I accidentally updated my kernel which was a big mistake. lol.
