Yast System Backup doesn't create auto-installation file

Hello

I'm having problems creating a full system backup
by means of Suse 9.2 Yast System Backup.
To be more specific it creates the tar.gzip
archive I specified just perfectly but it fails
to create the xml auto-installation file.
After it has created the archive it seems to be
creating the xml auto-installation profile but
then time after time it always stops at 99% and
according to ps Yast System Backup did indeed
terminate, the program window just didn't close
but the program has exited.
There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with any
package on the system but then again Yast System
Update should just work perfectly as on another
pc of mine on which I have the same distribution.
So I have 2 pc's, with SuSe 9.2, and they all have
had the same updates up until now where I didn't
update one pc because I'm unable to have Yast
automatically create the auto-installation file
for me first - which I would like to have for now
as long as I don't have a firm understanding of
the available shell commands and other
possibilities -.
Now without having a masters degree in xml, can I
create this file myself ? Or is there - also - a
way to fix Yast System Backup !

Thanks for any help !

It is the "root" user that creates the archive file.
This file accordingly has root rwx privileges.
When the archive has been created there is no further need
for access to the whole system and root access is terminated.
Next the xml auto-installation file is created based upon
the archive but if it doesn't have access to this file
it simply can't create the xml file and thus stops after
having created the archive.
So when you are making this backup in a root session there
should no problem but if the backup is made from a user
session for which the user has no access to the archive
file then the specified problem occures.
So you need to make sure that the actual non-root user
has root access to the specified file in order to be able
to make a full run of the Yast System Backup.
