Xsession: Login for <user> is disabled

I know there are other threads on this topic here, but none of them helped me.

I run OpenSUSE 10.3 and authenticate through NIS. When I try to log in to KDE, I get the message Xsession: Login for user is disabled, where user is an NIS user.

* I can log in both through switching to tty1 or through su from the root account.
* I have logged this user in graphically on other workstations (even other OpenSUSE boxes)
* My shell is /usr/local/bin/bash. This file exists and has the proper permissions (the fact that I can login from a text prompt hopefully verifies this)

I've been beating my head against this wall for too long now :/

Thanks,
Nathan

Solved: the shell needs to be in /etc/shells. Stupid me
