??? Xsession: Login for someuser is disabled.
I just setup a Suse 9.1 system on an NIS network and logins from the terminal work just fine, but when I try a graphical login for a user other than root, it fails with that error (root can do a graphical login without any problems). Also, ssh logins work fine for users other than root too, so I'm pretty sure it is not a password or NIS/ypbind issue.
I assume this is a kdm setup issue, but I cannot find the right setting. Any ideas? Thanks. |
Here is one possibility:
http://cert.uni-stuttgart.de/archive.../msg00466.html Here's another (old, but possibly relevant): http://groups.google.com/group/de.co...a3c07601495964 And these: http://groups.google.com/group/comp....&start=1&num=2 http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...05/08/3/352222 http://www.enterprisenetworkingplane...le.php/3502441 http://www.enterprisenetworkingplane...le.php/3487081 Anyway it looks like LDAP and/or Active Directory configuration might be the culprits here... 'Hope that helps .. PSM |
??? Xsession: Login for someuser is disabled.
The error can be written by /etc/X11/xdm/Xsession (Suse 10) if Xsession thinks that a "normal login" is disabled.
I found this to be the case for a NIS user whose shell was not listed in /etc/shells (e.g. /usr/local/bin/bash). Editing /etc/shells accordingly fixed the problem. regards Vernon |
