I have noticed that XINE and Kaffeine is not playing VCD/SVCD movies. I can play DVDs, MP3s and all other type of files, except those. After reinstalling SUSE 10.0 (for other reasons) I hoped the problem will be repaired, but it is not. Can somebody who has experienced the same problem, tell me how it can be done.
I have been trying to get some answers to my problem. I found none. I have reinstalled my system, no success at all. It is really strange. I can play everything (DVDs, MP3s DiVX etc.) but VCD/SVCD. It is not that I must watch VCD/SVCD, no. I only want to know why!!???
Not to sude rude, which I might... You can't watch VCDs or SVCDs because something is not configured right yet. And Kim is right, there are only about 50 threads with solutions to that exact issue. It is just something where during install you configured something wrong, and so searching through those threads will show you exactly how to rectify that problem.

The application that I use for watching VCD/SVCD/DVD on SuSE is called "vlc". Works very good under linux. You can download it (for the 32-bit SuSE-10.0) here: http://www.linux-administrator.com/ Look for rpm packages on the left side of the page. Then be certain to select a SuSE version that is suitable to your SuSE-10.0 (ie select vlc-0.8.2-1_suse100.i586.rpm).
