Wireless mouse and keybord freezes in SuSE 10.1

Hi,

lately, i have been experiencing the following problem: mouse and keyboard are freezing, no matter what I am doing, surfing the web or writing a document in OO. One moment everything is working and the next moment the mouse and keyboard stop working. I mean I can not move the cursor and also my keyboard does not work. I have a wireless BTC 8190URF keyboard and mouse. To start them, I need to reboot. This is happening at least once a day, randomly. When i installed SuSE 10.1 everything was OK, now, after updates/upgrades of the system, this bug appears.

i got microsoft wireless mouse and have the same problem. although my wired keyboard still functions but i can not normally shut down the system - it freezes when i try to log out...

Are you sure it's not a hardware problem? Low batteries, or something placed between the mouse/keyboard and the reciever? Or, in other words, does it work on other OS?

I have wireless mouse and keyboard too, and it works perfectly. Well, mine are a4tech, but that doesn't matter.
You should also see if it is configured correctly. My linux detects them as "ImExPS/2 Generic Exproler Mouse" and "Generic 104-key PC". See if you have the specific driver installed, and if not, search for it on the internet. Or see if you have to modify other settings that might do it.

Hi Valkyrie,

No it is not a hardware problem. I have changed the batteries and I have a clean space between the components and yes, it does work on WinXp (my second OS). Well, I would understand if the problem is permanent, but it is not. Sometimes, when i click on something with mouse, it simply freezes-mouse and keyboard.

Hi,
right now I had to reboot. I was using Firefox as a browse and when I click on an icon, everything freezes. In I think that it has to do with Firefox. I think, I almost am sure, that it happens mostly when i am using Firefox.

If my Targus wireless mouse is idle for a time, I need to rotate the wheel to get it reconnected with the receiver.

Nothing works - I can press or rotate everything possible, no result.

in my case suse definitely recognizes the mouse during the boot mentioning "usb microsoft wireless mouse" or something... and the problem has nothing to do with firefox. the most weird thing is that even by using the keyboard i can not normally shut down the system - it freezes on logout so i have to manually turn the power off on the case.

i had to re-install my suse once again (another story) but this time mouse actually crashed DURING THE INSTALL. my suspicion now is that it crashes if i'm not using it for some time. "reconnect" buttons on both the station and mouse itself are of no use. although yast itself still seems to be running, it's running kind'a weird - online update is happening now for the 3rd time in a row  and it still finds and installs some new stuff.
