Wireless issues (HP Pavilion ze2000)

Hello,

I'm having a difficult time setting up my wireless network on a laptop with Suse 10.0.

As system I have a Hp Pavilion ze2000, the network card is a BCM4318[Air Force 54g], the driver being used is bcmwl5a.inf.

Now installation of the driver works smoothly, driver is present, hardware is present. I depmod -a, modprobe ndiswrapper, iwconfig, iwconfig wlan0 essid ESSID, iwlist wlan0 scan, iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed, then I redo iwconfig wlan0 essid ESSID, ifconfig wlan0 up -----> and nothing...

so I try something else, I install the driver with ndiswrapper then use YasT to setup the network card.

In there I select device type: Wireless, config name 0, hardware Configuration Name static-1, Then Next..
I check host name & name server, then In advance in DHCP options I checked Request Broadcast Response.
Then Next...
I leave everything in its default configuration in Wireless network card config, Then I click on next.
Then I click on Next again.

After the Network Card is setup, I was told to go to the network manager and select one of the found networks????
(I'm lost right here, I can't seem to find the network manager??)

Can anyone help me??

Thanks.

ok when I run iwlist wlan0 scan,

I pick up a hotspot near my area so I set it up so I can connect.
I run iwconfig wlan0 - everything looks good.

so then I ifconfig wlan0 up

Check my browser - and still no internet service.
And I turned off completely my firewall, just to avoid conflicts with that right now.

Anyone?

Also, when I run network card,

by default I don't see my wireless card in the list of options.
(if that helps)

If you select the manual - control mode, you can can use KInternet to manage you connection. Another good tool to have installed is KWifiManager.

Hi,

Did it work? How can I do it with my Suse 10.1. I have almost no experience with linux. I installed the ndiswrapper I found on the Software Manager (YaST). Now what should I do? Thanks! Walter
