Wipe Hard Drive Prior to Install?

I am finally at the point where I want to remove Windows completely from my computer. I no longer use it.

Is there a console tool that will allow me to wipe the hard drive or perform a low level format prior to reinstalling SuSE 10?

I hope to boot the DVD and go to the console to execute this action. Any help would be appreciated.

But if you install a Linux distro, the HDD will be partitioned and formatted. All data will be lost.

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda
assuming your drive is the primary master.
