Unhappy Wacom tablet no longer working

I made a change in SAX2 to my tablet's mode from Absolute to relative and after X restarted, my tablet no longer works.

The pointer works only in the top left 1/4 of the screen and I cannot get it to go down any further so that I can shut the computer down, etc.
If I unplug the tablet, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in again, it will work normally for a just few seconds and then the whole entire system will freeze and I cannot get it to shut down properly because the keyboard no longer works then either.

I'm running SuSE 10.0 and have KDE as my desktop. I've looked at the xorg.config files and all of them say not to edit them because SAX2 does it. I've noticed there are at least 3 or 4 xorg.config files too.

What makes me so sad is that everything was working just beautifully earlier this morning. I'm so heartbroken over this.

Can anyone help?

Hope is in sight & site .. .

I recommend downlaoding the driver file from the wacom project from sourceforge & just overwriting the current driver.

Then you will have the latest wacom driver for the Xorg system (ie nothing to do with kernel AFAIK)

Well ... ovious one .. change the mode back to the previous setting ?

You can still use YaST or Sax2 under keyboard AND/OR boot into runlevel 3 so that the graphics system isnt started (add "3" to command line when the boot prompt shows up) .

The quarter size thing is the special quick access mouse area .. or whatever it is .. there is something ..

Maybe my words have helped a litle bit - good luck with that yummy tablet

Smile Wacom Tablet

Thank you so much, wini_g!
Though I don't know much about booting into level 3 and where to go from there, I have read about replacing the wacom driver from the wacom project and I was considering giving that a try. The method was to just copy it over from the package to where the system's wacom driver was. That sounds nice and simple, I like that.

I've plugged my regular mouse in now so if this happens again, I won't be stranded.

A weird but good thing I noticed, when I turned my Linux computer on again this morning, all is working fine again, even the tablet!

P.S. do you know if it matters what type of Wacom tablet is plugged into the machine? I have both a Graphire (an old regular one) and a new Intuos 3 (that one is connected to my Windows computer) and I was wondering if they [the tablets] could be used interchangeably.
