video resolution on a Dell Inspiron 8600

I am a new user to SuSe 9.1. I am running a Dell Inspiron 8600 pentium m 1.8 ghz, 2 gigs RAM, 64 meg NVidia GeForce FX go5200 video card and a WUXGA 15.4 wide screen. Basically my problem is when in winblows I can run at 1920x1200 @ 60hz and 96dpi When I try to set in YAST there is an option for I believe 1940x1200 @ 60hz but it causes black lines on both sides of my screen and the font becomes blurry and unredable. This is a laptop sorry if I failed to mention that. Any help would be greatly apprectiated.

Thank you so much,

Mathew

If by chance you still have windows running on the system you can check what the Hozt & Vert sync settings are and then try setting them in Xconfig manually. Also make sure you have the NVidia patches installed.
