urgent help please !!!


installed a suse 9.2 on same hdd where is XP installed and all is fine but why i cant copy some files to the XP partition?

XP uses the NTFS file system. you have to have a kernel that supports writing to NTFS. even with that there are severe limits to what you can do and also a chance of corrupting data.

hmm but why on anoher pc same suse can write a HDD in ntfs without OS

Maybe the drive on the other system is not formatted NTFS, but rather is formatted FAT32

ok thx for your help and i have another question i am using a suse on sony vaio laptop how to get work the system keys for sound and brignest?

Usually the best solution to getting XP and Linux to share data with one another on the same machine is to have a small FAT32 partition that both can get to (I wouldn't install either into a FAT32, just along side one).

If you do want to attempt to write to an NTFS partition then you should look into captive-ntfs.

(P.S. the reason for this problem is that Microsoft has not publicly released the full specifications for NTFS. Incomplete specs leads to incomplete software.)
