Upgrading SUSE 9.0 to openSUSE 11.1

I want to upgrade a SUSE 9.0 system to openSUSE 11.1. Does upgrading it work? I have a opensUSE 10.2 disk, so should I upgrade it to openSUSE 10 then to openSUSE 11.1. I have successfully updated openSUSE 10.x to openSUSE 11.1, but never 9

You are ill-advised to try.

depends - between adjacent releases it has been known to work. If you skip a release, there can be trouble. There is usually trouble if you have any third-party and/ore proprietary stuff on your machine.

That would be usual.

Well done.

It is usual to create a seperate partition to contain the /home files - then you can do clean installation with minimum fuss. The main trouble then comes when configuration files change... but these are normally quite quick to troubleshoot.

Too big a jump. You would be better simply copying your data to a CD or USB stick, wiping your hard drive, doing a fresh install with 11.1 and copying your data back.
