Great link there abisko00. I've heard that it is safer if you use another windowmanager/desktop besides KDE to do the update.

Although I ran the update out of KDE without any problem, you might want to run this from command-line yast. Open a root console and type 'init 3' to change to text mode (or boot after you typed '3' on the grub screen). Login as root and type 'yast'. The menu is not as comfortable as in KDE, but you'll get used to it

Youngtom asked about the installation of the KDE update from another desktop environment than KDE (for safety reasons). The easiest way to do this is from command line. To get into command-line mode, you have to change the runlevel from 5 (graphical UI) to 3 (text-based UI). This is done with the command 'init 3' that has to be executed by root. In a text-based UI, Yast is still functional, however with a ncurses based menu. This looks a little like good old Norton commander in DOS.

The above link shows you how to set up Yast to accept a FTP server as source for updated KDE packages. Depending on the mirror you choose, the directory to be specified changes slightly, but always contains the directory 'supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.1/yast-source'

I hope this helped.
