Unable to connect to DHCP gateway

Hi all,

I use HP Compaq nx6120 laptop with ethernet card Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5705M Gigabit Ethernet on OpenSuse 10.2. To connect to internet I set dynamic IP for this laptop but it's unable to find the gateway 196.168.0.1. When I ping it says unknown host. The same configuration works flawlessly on Windows XP (dual boot).

What have I done wrong ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

FYI, this problem happens intermittently. I've connected to gateway without problem once, but not anymore. Could somebody please at least tell me what to check ?
