too slow console switching

Hi.. I have been using suse from the 8.1 version.. All these years i have noticed that suse distros need some time to switch from one console to another(ctrl+alt+f1-f6)
Debian and other distros are able to do very fast switchign from one console to another. Do u know why suse behaves so slow? What should i do for this?

Just a guess: maybe this is because SUSE uses framebuffer console as default. These are usually slower than a text-console.

perhaps u are right... I think we can check that if we disable framebuffer...

Have a try...and tell me how you did it. I remember a previous thread, where someone attempted this , but I don't remember the solution.

EDIT: I think that the boot paramter vga=normal gives you a textconsole, but I didn't manage to adjust if to a reasonable font-size.
