Do you have Apache already running? It should be by default.

What happens when you go to http://localhost in either Nautalis/Konqueror/Firefox?

As for Tomcat, that's easy, too. You mostly need to ensure the permissions are setup correctly. Also make sure you know your Java variables (classpath/java path).

Help configuring Tomcat & Apache

It's not clear what kind of help you are asking for, e.g. is this a general question about Tomcat & Apache or something SuSE related?

Both apache and tomcat documentation are available on the apache website www.apache.org. Note: the Apache webserver is called the HTTPD project there.

Both apache & tomcat are available in the SuSE professional distributions, at least they are in 9.2, so you can install them from YaST.

I have some experience setting up apache & tomcat, none doing it in SuSE, but believe that like most "user friendly" distros, there will be some gotchas when you try to do something advanced that the packagers didn't foresee.

Need help with Tomcat installation & running Servlet

Hello, I am also trying to get the Tomcat running so that I can develop and my Java Servlet's on my Suse 10.2. I already have apache web server running.

What are the next steps in order to get the Tomcat installed and running?

Does tomcat, by default, not come with Apache?

Any help will be appreciated.

regards,

regards,
This project was done from last year, but I will still help you, if you want TOMCAT to run with out Apache you can use install TOMCAT and run it using http://servername:8080 or https://server_name:8080, however if you want TOMCAT and Apache to talk with out you using the port number you have a little config to do in TOMCAT, I will sand the links on how to set up Tomcat and Apache in a little. Good Luck with your work and have fun. (Which I did)
