The great keyboard puzzle

Sometimes things break. Like a keyboard. Mine did yesterday. It was a fine PS2 keyboard, that has served me well. Till yesterday it did.
Fortunately I had an other keyboard in the house, a wireless logitec USB keyboard.
So I plugged it in... and yes Suse 9.2 Professional recognizes a new device. Do I want to configure it? Yes, I want to, I really do.

So... i clicked yes. And then.... one slight problem. To configure a new device I have to type the root pwd. Aarhgh....
That's not possible because the keyboard isn't configured yet.
Quite an challenge to get this working.... hmmm..

Is there anyway to get this work? Is there a work around to enter my password with mouse only? Maybe I can boot with some live cd like Knoppix, Mepis, ZenLinux or something and manipulate some configuration file by hand?
If so: what and where?
Any other ideas?

Of cause always can I buy a new keyboard.. mmmm... are there still ps2 keyboard being sold anyway? Well, I'd like to get my wireless keyboard working without buying a new keyboard if possible.

Can somebody help me? Oh.. yes in case you wonder.. I'm posting from my work now.

Thanks.

Buy a USB to ps2 converter at your local computer store - Radio Shack, WalMart etc...
