System update - amarok helix problems??

Hi there

When trying to use System update I get all kinds of dependency issues with Amarok. Here is the conflicts print-out:

#### YaST2 conflicts list END ###
I'm really confused about this. It looks like amarok-helix is the problem.. and I don't even know what that is! One of the suggestions above is to delete Amarok, and it seems that I'm also asked to update amarok and to not update it too. If I try to just update Amarok alone with YaST I also get conflict warning messages involving upgrades and Helix.

anyone any ideas about this?

Delete the helix bits, update amarok and then start amarok and select the xine engine

Thanks dth1 - I was sort of thinking along those line myself but there just seems so much information in my listing above that it confused me.

I'll let you know what happens....

Hi again

Amarok is now updated to version 1.4.4 (even better than before!) but there are still problems :-(

I still can't download amarok-helix If I try, I get missing file libslang.so.2 If I try to download SLANG2 which provides libslang.so.2 Iget other missing dependencies.... If I try to get those sorted i get even more dependencies.......

So, can I just download libslang.so.2 from somewhere? I searched Google bigtime, but can't find a way. Shall I just forget about amarok-helix??

Adrian - You don't need the helix bit if you use the xine engine (amarok-xine). So there is no need to try and update this.

When you play a song does it play? If not post back and I will set out the steps needed to amend the sound engine to use xine.
