suspend to disk in SuSE 9.3

Hi there,
I am really impressed by the stability of this distro compared to Debian for instance , and I think I am going to install it on my other disk drives.
One feature which I find really usefull is the suspend to disk! It's really fast compared to normal boot/shutdown, but the only problem I have is with the screen not comming back to normal state, even if I switch it again, it stays locked and I have to reboot the machine to unlock it!!!
How could I solve this problem folks

This depends on many factors. Primarily your kernel, chipset/motherboard and video card. Are you sure all support suspend to disk? For example, older nvidia drivers (from nvidia.com) did not.

Finally an answer !!!
Thanks, but I think that I'm using relatively new driver for my GeForce FX 5200 !
Do you think it's an ACPI issue in the kernel ?
I will try to install a new kernel and see if it solves my problem !
I'll keep you updated mates...

Actually, I've *never* had suspend to disk working with the Nvidia driver.

The version 1.0-8756 says:
"Improved power management support with Linux >= 2.6.14 and added support for suspend-to-disk."
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d..._1.0-8756.html

Even then I imagine there is some tweaking required.

Indeed !!!
It must be an issue with the graphics driver, because I installed the same ditro (SuSE 9.3) on an other HDD but without the driver, and all works fine !!!
The screen isn't locked any more, but on the other hand I cannot get acceleration which is really frustrating because I planned to install Cedega and test some games...
Does the last driver from nVIDIA solve the problem ???

I can only recommend trying out. I will tell you that for me, the latest Nvidia driver doesn't do suspend to disk properly. (Note: I'm using FC5)

Well, the answer is NO !!!
At least with the SuSE 9.3 stock kernel (2.6.11.4-20a-default).
I will try the latest driver with the latest kernel and see what happens...
Cheers

Hi there,
Well I just installed the latest kernel (2.6.16.5) and strangely there are only three buttons (terminate session, shutdown and reboot), but not the suspend button !!!
Really strange isn't it ???
How could I solve this new problem ???
