I"m having problems with SuSe 10.0. Just recently installed a fresh version of SuSe 10.0 instead of KDE this time I thought I would try Gnome, not too happy with it however. Problem is i've tried to mount the cd drive and i'm assuming its half mounted. Untill I break down and buy an external modem or what ever I need to get for internet. ehh tried to install a driver but wasnt able to because there was no gcc installed where do i go to find that . I went into Yast but was having difficulty theres alot more that frustrates me but im just unsure where i'm supposed to start with that.

GCC is available here. You may also have to install other compilation and installation tools such as make, but we will get to that all in time. Right now just try to install GCC. If it is successful then you should be able to at least get past where you are right now with your driver issue.
By the way, make sure you're in root while you're installing the drivers.
