Suse Install Problems Gateway Laptop

I installed Suse 10.1 on a Gateway M210 laptop. Everything is working fine except:

1. Synaptic Touchpad is erratic
2. Memory Stick Reader does not work
3. Volume Control Weel

Not sure where to look for answers. Googled forever!

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I've got Suse 9.3 and....

Everything worked great for me, cept my version was really slimmed down. I am using a 7330gz laptop.

Anyways, what I suggest is looking for a better touchpad driver or getting a mouse for now. As far as the volume wheel, more than likely there are no drivers yet, so to see if the sound card works, look for a software based volume adjuster. If you can't seem to get it to work, then there are two ways to see if works:

1) Check the dmesg file for sound card errors during bootup.
2) Check www.alsa-project.org to see if your sound card is supported.

If you aren't sure sound card you have, boot into Windows, (if you still got it.) Click Start, right click on My Computer, click Properties, click the Hardware tab.

Now click Device Manager and look for Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. Your sound card is listed under there.

Hope this helps ya!

UPDATE:

I got the synaptics touchpad to work properly. To do this you need to search for and download ksynaptics. You can get this RPM from: rpm.pbone.net

Once the package is installed, go to the personal settings section and search for Ksynaptics.

Disable the horizontal scrolling feature.

Also if you don't want it in the systray, uncheck the box.

Now to work on the Memory Card Reader and the Volume Wheel.

BTW: My audio card is working properly. If you have a problem with it disable the External Amplifier Switch in KMix.
