Have you made any recent updates or installed any new programs recently? has it been doing this from the beginning or just start after an install?

well im not sure, anyway i upgraded to kde-3.4.1 and installed some media programms from packman, guru thats all.

i used YOU to install the nvidia driver and added "Option NvAGP "1"", "Driver nvidia" to the xorg.conf file.

what could be wrong btw i even add acpi=off at the kernel line thinking that would help.

pls let me know if theres anything i left out?

thnx

It may be the video card drivers, the same thing happened to me after I installed the drivers my for ATI card. That would be my guess at this point. It could be a bug in KDE 3.4.1, have you checked the KDE message boards? Also, is your memory usage high?

I'm still a newbie at this also but have messed with the nvidia stuff a little ... this shows that your not using nvidia's driver yet you have options for nvidia's driver ... dunno if thats the problem but its worth a try. I would try changing the driver to "nvidia" and check to see if the module agpgart is loaded (lsmod), if agpgart is loaded then I would comment out the NvAGP line... this is what works on my dell 8600 laptop with gforce card ....
