Suse 9.3 Professional on Pavilion zd8000

I'm trying to install SuSE 9.3 on my new laptop. The installation doesnt work unless I use the failsafe version. After a successful installation in failsafe mode, I am unable to start the new system. The bootloader loads SuSE but then the screen turns black and nothing will work. If I try to boot the installed failsafe kernel it locks up when probing pci. If I load the SuSE 9.3 CD and restart installation mode it reconizes that a version is already installed and allows me to boot the installation from that cd. This ironically works throwing me into KDE. The other problems are that the network card and such do not work, this makes it a problem for me to get the proper ati drivers I need. I just got this laptop here are the specs, I really want to get this working for college so any help with any hardware would be appreciated. Most importantly I'm trying to atleast get the system so I can boot it without having to use the CD.

Its a Pavilion zd8000

It might just be a bug in suse. Have you tried running a LIVE CD? Like Knoppix or Kanotix or DSL. If that works, then...
