Suse 9.3/apache2/php4 - Firefox tries to download index.php, other *php pages work

Hey Gang,

I just upgraded a machine from Suse 9.0 to 9.3, and inalled all the latest updates including apache2-2.0.53-9.7 and apache2-mod_php4-4.3.10-14.16. This system is using the default Apache configuration provided in /etc/apache2.

When I use Firefox to http://example.org/index.php , my browser tries to download the page instead of rendering the page. This happens with a handful of pages. That sounds familiar, right? It's a simple issue with the mime-type, or a missing phplib, etc.

However, when I browse to another page http://example.org/user_admin.php , the page displays just fine. The PHP code renders, Apache diplays the page, etc.

All pages work fine when browsing with IE6. This problem only happens with Firefox.

I haven't run into this specific issue on other distros, so perhaps it's a Suse-specific issue. I thought I would ask here.

Thanks!

-= Stefan

Um, the php pages - are they local to your machine or on someone's server. For example (pardon the pun) does this page show up okay in FF or do you see HTML output?

If you see HTML output then yeah - it is a mime-type thingy. You can probably mess with those in your KDE Control Panel. (If you have Gnome, I'm sorry.)
