Suse 9.3 and Canon i250

Has anyone tried a Canon i250 printer using Suse 9.3?

I am new to Linux and installed Suse 9.2 Pro from a DVD that came with a magasine and after a week surfing different forums I still have not been able to get my printer - Canon i250 - to work.
I have tried the drivers from Canon NZ and seen detailed instructions for how to get it to work in Red Hat but haven't had much succes myself.

If it works under Suse 9.3 I might as well upgrade right now and spare myself trying to figure out how to get it to work under 9.2

Found this link if it helps

It sounds as if the red hat drivers might be out-of-date for the version of cups running on Suse 9.2

The Linux community seems to be adverse to any software that isn't free but sometimes paying is the only way. Printer drivers are one of those times. I have a Canon i560, love that printer, and purchased the Turboprint driver set. They are a German company that sells over the web and I have been very happy with them. They allow for a free download so you can test your printer. This download places their logo on all printed output but it does prove operation. The list of covered printers is extensive and current.
