SuSE 9.2; 'root' default's to YaST

I screwed up my access to root by inadvertently choosing 'administrator' form the drop down pick list on the logon screen as the 'root' user. Now, when I try to change user from my normal KDE logon screen, I defaut to YaST. Since I can't edit the file to change my default without being a superuser, how can I fix the problem?

Is there a way to startup the editor as a superuser without logging on as root? Anytime I try to edit a file from my normal logon screen, it won't let me save the file. New user, of course.
