If you own SuSE 9.1 Personal and are trying to install Unreal Tournament 2004, but can't seem to mount the discs to the UT installer's satisfaction, do this; it worked for me.
- Look at your fstab file:
# cat /etc/fstab
My output looks like this:
/dev/cdrecorder....../media/cdrecorder....subfs......fs=cdfss,ro,.....etc.
/dev/cdrom............./media/cdrom............subfs......fs=cdfss,ro,.....etc.
SuSE uses "subfs" to automount drives; we need to manually mount and unmount them to install the game. When the installer asks you for disc 2, 3, etc., you must have a terminal window open, as root, and type:
# umount /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom
(***Of course, replace /dev/cdrom and /media/cdrom with whatever your entries are in fstab.)
...insert the cd it asks for, then type
# mount /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom
Wait a couple seconds for the drive to become active, then tell the installer to continue. The install should go smoothly. I installed as root, but can play the game as a normal user.
Hopefully this will help someone like me - not yet linux-savvy.
