SuSE 6.0 - The next distribution?

I ran across this link at another forum. Thought some might get a smile traveling down memory lane.

Hey,

I'm dying to find Live evaluation ISOs of versions older than 8.0. No matter where I work, the mirrors say they've been removed. Is there any unsynced mirror anywhere or a archive they could have been uploaded to? Old versions of SUSE are cool. If you have anything with 8.1 (a computer installation, .live CD) and boot to the GFX screen, hit F10, you will see a cool something.... (think:1992-2002) Please help me find 7.3 and earlier.

The only way to get a hold of versions that old is to download all needed files via FTP, and bundle them yourself to build the ISO. I found everything via google, FYI. Let me know if you need any more assistance.

Cheers,

Josh

How do you bundle them into an ISO?

How do you load on the CD ISO Linux to start the kernel and initial RAM disk?

I might still have CDs/DVDs or at least ISO images of most versions 6.0 - 9.x, possibly even a 5.3 box somewhere. I'll try to look though the stuff this weekend.

It does take quite a bit more than just the rpms to build a bootable medium which is why distros include tools or online services for that purpose these days ....

Regards,
eisenhans

Select a different each session with the session selector at log in

So I'm *not* the only one ...

Been doing some de-trashifying of my (home) office. Tossed a heap of stuff, but just for old times sake kept the Redhat 5.1 boxed set I found. Manual, boot floppy, even the shop receipt ....
Also have a pile of (mostly M$oft) books to give to the local second-hand shop.

*Much* more still to toss.

I am really sorry for not yet having had the time to look for the stuff. Haven't forgotten it though and hope to do it soon.
