434 posts and you haven't learned how to formulate a question? Have a read of this. It'll help you a lot.

. . . and you haven't figured out how to search, knowing the answer has been posted probably 18,371,271 times already?

<sigh> You've obviously missed my point entirely. To reply curtly, the ONLY response I have at my disposal is "Stop doing it incorrectly. Do it right and it will work just fine." To answer you HELPFULLY, I'd now have to play 20 questions:

1. Which app(s) are you using and how did you install them?
I have NO IDEA what apps you are using or how many different ones you have tried. I also have no idea whether you installed from an official package, unofficial package, source, or what.

2. Are there any error messages displayed?
Continuing on from the previous question this would also be very useful as even if I know which app you are using I can't help you until I know what's wrong. "It doesn't work" is about as useful to me as "it hurts" is to a doctor.

3. Does it play at all?
Does maybe the audio or video play but not the other? Are they out of sync or garbled?

4. Have you tried looking around to see if anyone else has had this problem?
Both google and this site are very good places to search. Also, searching would provide ME with more information by which to (help you) solve your problem.

The list goes on... All of the above should have been in your original post. You may think both I and KimVette are picking on you but really, if you look at it objectively, we've done you a huge favour by not ignoring you completely as I was (and most other people would be) tempted to do.

By the way, I'm not looking for answers to these questions - you need to do a little research. This is all for you to be able to not be flamed or ignored in the future.

Then you didn't read any of the many, many threads outlining step-by-step instructions detailing which packages need to be installed, the order in which they need to be installed, and where to get them.

I use kaffein to play, but it does not play.
VCD is not automounted, not like data CD,
but it can be manually mounted.
I open file in kaffein, the *.dat in the mpeg folder of VCD, but it refuse to play, says that w32codec not found.
So, please teach me to tweak this.
