Sound Issues

recently, I installed MPlayer, (PackMan reposritory I beleive).

I am unable to get any sound from my DivX videos.

Video works but there is no sound coming out. The speakers are recognized and are hooked up. Sometimes GAIM makes some sounds.

I don't really care how I play mey files I just want to play them.

I'm not sure. I just used installed it using YaST.

For some reason I think that it will work if I use gStreamer, but it always says the codec is missing, yet if i use ALSA I can get video but no sound. This is in Totem Movie Player.
