smart wont update local rpm directory

hello, im using smart to upgrade several suse 10.1 machines, however I have only one downloading the packages off the net while the others I have redirected to a mounted file pointing to the downloaded rpms(set up as rpm-dir) in smart gui i can see the rpms fine and can see which ones are needed to update but trying to get it to work in shell is another case, i type smart update and it says there are no updates to download which is untrue.

After you have downloaded all of your RPMs to the local rpm-dir directory, in the smart GUI, you might want to go to Edit Channels, disable the local rpm-dir there, close the Edit Channels window to let the cache refresh, reopen Edit Channels and let the cache refresh and recognize the new RPMs you put there.

In general, when making any changes to an rpm-dir channel, you want to disable the channel in Edit Channels before making any changes and reenable it after the changes have been made, because if you make any changes to an active channel that in any way alters what smart thinks should be there (e.g. changing the location of an RPM file that smart has already recognized), then smart will not start up and will instead quit with an error.
