sh: can't access tty; job control turned off.

after recompiling the kernel (the first time in my life) i get the following error, what is this error? of course i would never exclude that i did a mistake somewhere

Loading kernel/fs/reiserfs/reiserfs.ko
Waiting for device /dev/hda3 to appear: .... not found...exiting to /bin/sh
sh: can't access tty; job control turned off.
$

please help and let me know what else you need to know

Build the filesystem straight in the kernel and not as module, als compile the chipset drivers/ide drivers in the kernel. otherwise it wont boot.

thank you very much, after carefully watching my actions, i recognized my big mistake, i did make && make install instead of make && make modules_install
seems like after that my system is booting, anyway, i have another problem now, my intel wireless card is not working suddenly, it worked once and now not anymore, isn't there something like a dep. checker, or a pre test before compile?
at the moment im doin' trial and error.
would be nice to know on what my wireless card depends, ipw2100
thanks in advance(d)
