Hi everyone, had a consultant attempt to build us a machine and to make a long story short he's now gone and we've got a bunch of expensive hardware that doesn't work together. We've got an ASUS motherboard with dual opterons and an adaptec 39320 ulta 320 scsi controller with 2 drives setup striped on it (could cheetahs).
Unfortunately I can't find any drivers that work for this controller for SUSE 9.3 (the 9.x unsupported drivers fail to install on the SMP kernel).
So I was wondering if anyone can either :
a) recommend a driver/trick to get it to recognize it
b) recommend another controller that they've gotten to work (don't want to have to buy a new set of drives/MB/processors but if its just a controller I might be able to swing it).
c) recommend a different distro (I'm a bit of a linux newbie but get me an .iso and I should be ok)?
d) give me any stories of working setups for scsi raid and linux
