root user fails to log-in
well, i have been running suse 10.2 for a few weeks now and not that it's really bothering me, but root wont log-in anymore in a normal mode (only in safe gnome or something).
when i do try to log-in it says that my last session lasted only 10 seconds or less... (not) uhm and it creates .xsession-erros file in the root directory here it is: /etc/opt/gnome/gdm/PreSession/Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp /etc/opt/gnome/gdm/PreSession/Default: running: /usr/bin/sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xservers" -h "" -l ":0" "root" /etc/X11/xim: Checking wether an input method should be started. INPUT_METHOD is not set or empty (no user selected input method). Trying to start a default input method for the locale en_US.UTF-8 ... There is no default input method for the current locale. |
You mean you can't login from gdm or kdm as root?
Or you can't do su - ? Seems like the first answer. There is no need to log in as root and open every graphical apps as root so it's probably better if it doesn't work.. |
I can't login from kde nor gnome.
The console works. Yeah... I guess you're right. Thanks nx5000! |
