ReiserFS versus Ext3 journaling options

I need to understand the full journaling options availalble on ReiserFS and compare them against Ext3 on SuSE Linux distributions (SLES 9, NLD 9).

In either SLES 9 or NLD 9, when you create a Reiser or EXt3 file system via Yast ==> Partitioner, the journaling options under the "fstab options" button are the same (journal, ordered, writeback).

However, it is my understanding that on Linux kernels below 2.6.8 (SLES 9 and NLD 9 fall in that category), full data journaling (journal) is not an option on Reiser File System (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_file_systems) . Still, the option is there on the system and you can select it and use it.

Can someone fully explain the journaling options available under ReiserFS (3.6)?

Regards,

JB

To close this thread.

On SLES and NLD (at least version 9), both ReiserFS and Ext3 perform the same level of journaling. The fstab flags do mean the same thing on both cases.
