Recovering DSL connection settings

Can someone tell me where SuSE 8.x stores the configuration files for DSL/PPoE and whether the password(s) in the configuation files are encrypted or not? I am trying to figure out if I can recover my DSL connection settings from a back up CD I made a while back.

This weekend the SuSE 8.x (whichever release shipped with the 2.4.18 kernel) system that I have been using as my Internet/DSL router/firewall suffered a rather loud drive failure on the drive that holds the root filesystem. Under normal conditions, this would be only a temporary inconvenience. I could just pull the drive, install a new one, install the latest SuSE, configure it and be back in business.

Unfortunately, these are not normal conditions. I moved house about two years ago, and the settings for my DSL connection sent by my provider are in one of the (very) many boxes in my basement. I don't remember what they were, and I didn't write them down anywhere else. I spent most of the weekend digging through some of those boxes, but I couldn't find the information.

So now my plan is to try to restore the settings from a backup on a new install. I am worried, however, that that won't be possible if the password is stored encrypted in the configuration file, but I am not even sure what file those settings are stored in to begin with.

Can anyone offer a suggestion or advice?
