Question Question on locating the instance of a device installed?

Hi All,

This is a question on finding the instance of a device, which is installed and operational on my system, for example to find the network interfaces on a multi-ported network card:

Under Solaris I would use /etc/path_to_inst, to obtain such information. Under Suse is the answer located in /proc/?

Q1. What is Suse alternative?

Under Solaris I can also use /usr/sbin/prtconf –v, I know under Suse you maybe able to use hwinfo;

Q2. Is there any other alternatives?

Many thanks in advance for your help, in clarifying this matter for me

I think the command you are looking for is "lspci". You can also do "cat /proc/bus/pci/devices".
