Qsynth lockup in suse-13.1

I normally use qjackctl, qsynth, rosegarden, zynaddsubfx together. Whenever I try to edit setup ins a qsynth-0.3.8-1.3 instance I'm advised that Qsynth has to restart for effect. I click OK and then the window locks up completely. Has anyone else run into this?

I applied some updates [up to 2014-Aug-28] and the problem is gone.
