Problems in starting graphical interface, SUSE 10.0

Hi everyone,

I'm in desperate need of your help.

I've been running SUSE 10.0 for half a year now without any complaints. Today I installed the kernel-sources so that I could compile the SPCA5XX for my webcam. At the end I just downloaded an RPM of SPCA5XX and installed it with YAST.

Since the webcam still wasn't working, I tried restarting the system. After boot, I got the command line login request (which works) and no graphical interface (at runlevel 5, if this helps).

When running startx, it said that it "failed to load the Nvidia kernel module" and that "no screens found".

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and how I am supposed to resolve it?

Thanks,

Hellbourne.

Try to reinstall the Nvidia driver with YOU (go to installed patches and update).

Post the contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log as that would point at the exact nature of error.

Quote:
grep EE /var/log/Xorg.0.log
would output only those lines that describe the error

I actually uninstalled the Nvidia driver and reinstalled the kernel. Now everything is OK. There seemed to be a mismatch between kernel and kernel-source

Thanks!
